In this Podcast, I’ll share with you 2 things that take under 10 minutes a week that will create a huge boost to your church website content and SEO.

First, What is SEO?

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimisation and in very very simple terms it means doing anything to optimise your website to make it more helpful and findable by those who search for anything related to your church.

Now, while findable and helpful could mean a whole host of things, we’ll focus on a more significant part of SEO, which is content.

If you are thinking he’s going to say “pastors should begin blogging”, no, that’s not what this is about. Remember, it will take you under 10 minutes and you don’t have to create any new content.

Why is content important to your church website

Think of content as pathways to your church website. Every piece of content you create is like you are creating a new pathway to your website. A fresh new opportunity for it to be found when people search for the type of content you publish.

Most churches just don’t have the resources to publish content regularly. Large companies however have content teams where they push out blogs and videos every week.

There is yet another group of people who do deep research, cross reference ancient books and translations every week – all to create great content that communicates a well thought out set of ideas. These are pastors. Probably the unsung heroes of content production. Like I said, you don’t have to create new content, you could just leverage the existing great pieces of content that’s being pushed out about 40+ times a year.

So here’s the two tips

1. Convert your Messages to Textual Content
No matter where you host your church website; be it WordPress or any other provider. As long as you have the ability to create a new page/blog/ or the messages section allows you to add text. Copy the sermon notes from the pastors slideshow or transcribe it. Create a new page and paste this in.

2. Upload the Message Presentation
Go to Slideshare.net and create a free account. If you have a LinkedIn account, you probably already have a SlideShare account.

Once you log in, upload your messages presentation. You should then see the option to embed it. Copy this embed code and paste it into the page you just created for your message. Publish! See the example embed below.

Don’t forget to also embed your podcast on this page or write content on your podcast page itself.

That’s it. You just created a rich piece of content that has audio, written content AND a bonus goody slideshow that people could potentially see bonus content that did not make it in the message.

Now, most Church website providers do not provide all these features. You just might not have the ability to add text and sermon notes to your messages. Easy Church however, was built just for the church. We build custom church websites and host them and provide features built just for the church.

Our podcasting platform is the most full featured platform for churches of all sizes. No more third-party sites for your podcast. With one-click, you could publish your podcast (with sermon notes, and the slideshow) to your website, iTunes, and Google Play.

One unique feature is that you could create custom quizzes or pols or any interactive questionnaire so your podcast listeners could answer questions the pastor might have asked when the sermon was live. Your virtual listeners get a more immersive experience. Check out the quiz below for example.
